For us you are the most important
The history of the building where the Kossak Hotel is now located, dates back to the 1930s. The architectural design is from 1931, but the building itself was constructed in 1935.
In the 1960s, right next to it, the first department store in Krakow, "Jubilat," was built, directly adjoining the building.
In 1995, the building ceased to be the property of the Wasserberg Jewish family, who sold it to the current owners - the Ostachowski family.
You already know the story, and you also know that we love to host. So it's time for you to learn who's behind the scenes of hospitality. And who it all started with....
The whole history of Hotel Kossak began with Zbigniew Ostachowski - an entrepreneur who bought 3 properties in Krakow and adopted them for the Osti-Hotele company. The Kossak Hotel was built in one of them.
Mr. Zbigniew blazed trails and created a place famous for its Krakowness and hospitality. In turn, since the pandemic, his daughter Joanna Ostrowska took over the reins at Kossak, while his other daughter Izabela Ostachowska became responsible for catering issues.
The Kossak Hotel is distinguished by its elegant interior design, designer furnishings, attention to detail, and the use of only the highest quality materials. We offer spacious rooms and luxurious apartments for stays in Krakow, extraordinary culinary experiences in our restaurants, concierge service, and a range of possibilities for business guests, such as organizing conferences, formal banquets, corporate events, and team-building activities.
Kossak Hotel warmly invites you to enjoy unforgettable moments in Krakow!

Hospitality is her passion, which she has been developing for many years.Always ready to help, even in the most surprising situations, Joanna never says “it can't be done”. Instead, she says: “Of course, I will check what we can do. We will definitely find a solution!”
The Sales and Revenue Manager is more than just a numbers and strategy person, she is also the heart of our sales operations, making sure every room is full and our guests are happy. Iza combines creativity, analytical thinking and interpersonal skills.
Climate you will experience only in Krakow
In a world that has no borders the atmosphere of places and smuggling their history is extremely important. That's why we focus on the unique atmosphere of our hotel. One that you will experience only in Krakow and in no other place on this globe.
Cracovism, hospitality, family, professionalism - these are our overriding values. We try to make them visible in everything we do. That's why we engage in many initiatives - not only those inside the hotel. We cultivate culture, teach hospitality to the younger generations and finally - we engage in projects that make Krakow even more beautiful.
The year 2023 was the year of Wislawa Szymborska - an outstanding poet and an integral part of our city, Krakow. To further empha this fact, we got involved in a project implemented by the Wislawa Szymborska Foundation x Medicine x 100 murals for Krakow. How? By making a wall of one of our townhouses available.
Today you can admire this beautiful mural in the Wislawa Szymborska Park on Karmelicka Street. Be sure to take a look when you visit our hotel.
The exhibition of Cracovian nativity scenes is the result of an annual competition for artists, which is already a tradition. The post-competition exhibition has received the honorary patronage of the Polish Committee for UNESCO, so we are all the more pleased that every year one of the works decorates the interior of our hotel.
Where did this custom come from? In fact, the Cracow custom of “walking” with a nativity scene around houses dates back to the 19th century. However, after World War I it began to slowly disappear. To preserve crib traditions for future generations, Jerzy Dobrzycki, who headed the magistrate's propaganda department, organized the first Cracovian Crib Competition in 1937. After World War II, the contests were resumed, and their organization was undertaken by the Museum of Cracow, which continues the tradition to this day.
